Circle of Security Parenting
(Condensed - 4 week program)
At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.
This program is designed for parents of children aged 0-5 years with examples pertaining to the infant to pre-school age group. However, the concepts apply to parenting at all stages and ages. Please watch the video below for a summary of the program.
Learning Objectives of the Program:
• Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
• Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
• Enhance the development of your child's self esteem
• Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure
What makes this group different from any other COSP group?
Your experience of the Circle of Security Program is enhanced by the experience and expertise of your facilitator. Whilst the core content is the same in every COSP program, the clinical experience of the facilitator will make a significant difference in understanding how these concepts might apply to unique situations, as well as the ability to respond to any questions you might have throughout the course.
Kara is a Clinical Psychologist with over 12 years of clinical experience working across the family life, including in the perinatal period (during pregnancy and postpartum), with children, adolescents, families, and couples, and is well positioned to facilitate a group about creating attachment security.
In addition to the core content that is present in every COSP group, our groups have been designed to enhance and deepen your learning by providing extra resources and revision content for no additional fee. Our group program includes the following:
4 weekly live sessions that allow for questions and discussion with a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist
Handouts with visuals (a part of the core COSP content) to support your learning
Weekly email summaries with reflection questions of each lesson to help consolidate your learning
Access to recordings to review content for revision or catch-up, for up to 4 weeks following the completion of the course.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How many sessions will the group run over?
The course will be run over 4 weekly online meetings covering 8 lessons (2 lessons per week), with each session running for approximately 2 hours.
Q. What is the format of the program?
The format is a mix of weekly video content, group discussion, and self-reflection. The COSP program is based on decades of attachment research and is designed to be a roadmap for parenting and meeting our childrens’ needs, rather than a prescriptive set of parenting “strategies”.
Q. Should I attend this group alone or together with my partner?
As a parenting program, it will be most beneficial for families if parents/couples attend together in order to foster a strong sense of being on the same parenting team. However, this is not always possible and many individuals have attended this group and found it to be very helpful.
Q. How much does it cost?
The total cost for the program is $500. There is no additional cost for a partner to attend together, however each participant will need to be registered. Only registered individuals may attend the group.
Q. What is the payment and cancellation policy?
Payment is to be made in full at the time of registration.
Cancellation requests must be received in written form via groups@alongsidepsychology.com.au
For cancellations, the following applies: (a) within 7 days of the start date, the full fee is refunded minus a $30 late cancellation fee, and (b) within 3 days, there is no refund.
In the unlikely event that this is cancelled due to a lack of participants or to unforeseen circumstances your registration fee will be refunded in full.
No shows are not refundable.
